Nexus Business

At Nexus Business Space, the brief was to create a workspace that felt lighter, more human and more adaptable to the way modern businesses actually use office space. Balancing focus, flexibility and everyday comfort within a serviced office environment in the centre of Glasgow.

Set within a busy building, the project needed to work hard for a wide range of occupiers: individual users, small growing businesses and larger teams sharing the same address but operating in very different ways. That meant moving beyond a traditional office fit-out and thinking carefully about how atmosphere, acoustics and informal use would shape daily experience.

Natural light became a key driver of the design. Bright finishes, soft timber tones and an open visual rhythm were used to help the space feel uplifting and generous, particularly important in a workplace where many users spend long hours on screen and move between focused work and shared interaction throughout the day.

A series of timber hut-style booths were introduced to create informal meeting points without relying entirely on enclosed rooms. These booths provide a degree of acoustic shelter and visual privacy, giving people somewhere to step into quick conversations, video calls or quieter one-to-ones without interrupting the wider floor. In coworking environments, this middle ground between open desk and formal meeting room is often where daily friction appears, so creating that informal layer was essential.
