Lighting
Lighting is key for any space and full communication between architect and interior designer can result in dramatic and exciting results without the added cost that can be incurred when adding a lighting scheme, for example reimagining light features as graphic displays or adding bespoke graphics or artwork to specified fittings is a great way to add real integrated design with powerful results.
FINISHES
Collaborating on finishes can produce unexpected results. Architectural finishes and interior finishes are ever changing so it makes sense to collaborate on knowledge to find innovative, sleek and practical solutions. Having interior graphics specialists on board at this point can offer insightful ideas on how to incorporate wayfinding/branding or features that can be cost effective.
CUTOMER JOURNEY
Space planning from both sides is considered from very different angles. Working in tandem gives greater flexibility and can offer up solutions from a customer journey and specialised operational viewpoint that may have been missed if working in isolation. Having access to the foresight of both parties helps eliminate issues which can be expensive to repair late in the process.
BRAND CONCEPT
Having interior designers involved from day one in the overall conceptual thinking facilitates a holistic design approach allowing the thinking to filter from the ‘inside out’. This means that the concept can be taken through and incorporated into spatial arrangements, interior finishes, lighting and materials. It also allows any branding to be responsive to architectural aestheic and for any wayfinding to be tailored and adapated with an understanding of the building and interior design.
LAYOUTS
Bathrooms and kitchens require detailed coordination from architects and M&E consultants but including interior designers in this step ensures
a high quality, seamless and consistent creative finish.
JOINERY
Joinery items will likely be designed and detailed from both sides but having a close and open working relationship between both parties ensures a thoughtful design process and consistent language. Having both an architectural and design mind working together can result in some pretty amazing and unique results.
