CHALLENGE
To Transform a 19th century historic Grade B listed building with new extension, into a 47-bedroom hotel with fine dining restaurant, stylish bar and event space.
APPROACH
Working as lead interior designer while at 442deisgn & alongside a wider team of architects and consultants. We wanted to create a luxurious escape with Ness Walk, the goal : a 5 star experience for tourists and locals. The hotel is situated only 10 mins from the city centre and sits on the bank of the River Ness, with Lucious surrounding landscape and inviting courtyard.
On arrival guests are greeted with and impressive solid granite reception desk and led into the welcoming lounge with large scale bookcase & open fire, for check in. The scale of the restaurant and bar space allowed us to incorporate rich and luxurious finishes, fixtures and materials providing guests with a relaxing and cosy setting. Large Victorian windows to the front of the original building link the public areas beautifully to the exterior landscaping.
The bedroom and circulation interiors reflect the seasonal landscape with a flow of soft colours and textiles. All 47 spacious and stylish bedrooms are filled with natural light, featuring bespoke elements, such as carpeting resembling the River Ness as it approaches the riverbank. Colour tone was deliberately kept soft and neutral to maximise on the overall sense of space. Brass detailing and locally sourced granite surfaces add a layer of Sophistication. The en-suites were designed to be elegant, spa like sanctuary for guests. Generously proportioned, with double vanity, walk in shower and deep bath.
